# ToolJet: Build and Govern Enterprise Apps with AI > ToolJet is an open-source platform for building and governing internal business applications. Teams can build with ToolJet AI, connect their own coding agents through MCP, or use the visual builder. ToolJet connects to 100+ integrations and supports ToolJet Cloud and Self-hosted deployments. ## Product and Platform - [ToolJet](https://tooljet.com/): Build and govern internal tools with AI, coding agents, and visual editing. - [AI App Builder](https://tooljet.com/ai-app-builder): Build apps from natural-language prompts, refine their interfaces visually, and extend them with queries and custom logic. ToolJet AI assembles native app configurations that remain editable in the visual builder. - [ToolJet MCP](https://tooljet.com/mcp): Connect coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex to create and manage native apps on Cloud or Self-hosted. The workflow-capable release also discovers, creates, edits and validates Self-hosted workflow drafts. Authoring does not execute, publish, enable or configure triggers. Run only the selected version/environment explicitly, then inspect execution status and paginated results. App builds through your coding agent do not consume ToolJet AI credits; your agent or model provider may charge separately. - [Integrations](https://tooljet.com/integrations): Connect to 100+ integrations across databases, APIs, business tools, cloud storage, messaging, and AI providers. Integrations are open source; developers can extend connectors or build their own with the ToolJet CLI. Private connectors are available on Self-hosted, not ToolJet Cloud. - [Self-hosted ToolJet](https://tooljet.com/self-hosted): Deployment guide for running ToolJet in your own cloud or on-premises. Manage it yourself, or have ToolJet deploy and manage it in your AWS, Azure or GCP account. AI gateway and model hosting are separate choices. Self-hosting is available on Free, Team and Enterprise; air-gapped operation requires the Enterprise air-gapped add-on. - [Low-Code Platform](https://tooljet.com/low-code-platform): What a low-code platform is, how low-code differs from no-code, and how ToolJet combines AI app generation, a visual builder, and custom JavaScript or Python. - [ToolJet Database](https://tooljet.com/database): Manage application data with ToolJet's built-in database and visual table interface. - [AI Agent Builder](https://tooljet.com/ai-agent-builder): Build AI agents and workflows on Self-hosted deployments. Agent Builder is not available on ToolJet Cloud. - [Workflows](https://tooljet.com/workflows): Connect queries, logic and configured AI providers into workflows on Self-hosted deployments. Build visually or author drafts through the workflow-capable MCP release using supported Start, JavaScript, query, Loop, condition, Agent and response nodes. Validate before an explicitly authorized run. Workflows are not available on ToolJet Cloud; AI and email steps require configured data sources. ## Pricing and Availability - [Pricing](https://tooljet.com/pricing): Compare Cloud and Self-hosted plans, builder pricing, end-user limits, AI credits, and Enterprise add-ons. Features and limits depend on the plan and deployment option. - Free plans include unlimited pages per app. AI usage is governed by the included credits and plan limits. - Team plans include 3,000 AI credits per builder per month on both Cloud and Self-hosted. - Unlimited end users are included on Enterprise. Other plans have end-user limits. - Builder bring-your-own-key (BYOK) is available on Enterprise plans for both Cloud and Self-hosted. Requests use ToolJet's managed AI server with your provider keys; provider usage is billed separately without consuming ToolJet AI credits. BYOK alone does not make inference local. This is separate from connecting an app to an AI provider through a data-source integration. - Deploying the ToolJet AI gateway on customer infrastructure is a Self-hosted Enterprise add-on. Fully local AI also requires a supported model running within that infrastructure; using an external model provider still sends requests to that provider. - Fully air-gapped operation, including offline licensing, requires the Enterprise air-gapped add-on. - Free plan AI app generation supports GPT-6 Luna. Haiku 5.5 requires a paid plan. Estimated Haiku usage for a four-page app is US$0.20–0.40; actual usage and app complexity vary. This estimate is not a subscription price or a benchmark guarantee. ## Security, AI, and Deployment - [Security](https://tooljet.com/security): Data-source credentials are encrypted with AES-256-GCM. Review data protection, authentication, access controls, audit logging, incident response, and deployment options. - [Trust Center](https://trust.tooljet.com): Access ToolJet's current security and compliance documentation. - [AI Security](https://tooljet.com/security#Deployment-Options): Choose hosted or customer-hosted AI gateway options. With ToolJet's hosted AI gateway, the Self-hosted deployment initiates the key-authenticated outbound connection; the gateway cannot initiate an inbound connection to the deployment. - [Self-hosting Documentation](https://docs.tooljet.com/docs/setup/): Deploy ToolJet on customer infrastructure. Self-hosting alone does not make external AI provider calls local or enable the Enterprise air-gapped add-on. - Enterprise includes multiple deployments. Teams can isolate development, staging, and production and use GitSync to move apps between them. AI can be enabled in development and disabled in other deployments. - Self-hosted administrators can disable telemetry and update checks through configuration. Network requirements depend on the selected deployment, AI gateway, model providers, and connected services. ## Solutions and Examples - [Internal Tools](https://tooljet.com/internal-tool-builder-tooljet): Build operational dashboards, admin panels, and tools connected to business data. - [Customer Portals](https://tooljet.com/customer-portals): Build portals with controlled access to application data. - [Templates](https://tooljet.com/templates): Explore starting points for internal business applications. - [Customer Stories](https://tooljet.com/case-study): Read examples of how customers use ToolJet. - [Integration Guides and Examples](https://tooljet.com/integrations): Explore 100+ integrations, connector operations, sample app prompts, and links to setup documentation. - [Back Office Apps](https://tooljet.com/building-back-office-apps) and [Business Applications](https://tooljet.com/business-applications): Build admin panels, reconciliation tools, and approval apps on existing data. - By team: [Operations](https://tooljet.com/department/custom-operations-solutions-tooljet), [Finance](https://tooljet.com/department/custom-finance-solutions-tooljet), [HR](https://tooljet.com/department/custom-hr-solutions-tooljet), [Sales](https://tooljet.com/department/custom-sales-solutions-tooljet), [Marketing](https://tooljet.com/department/custom-marketing-solutions-tooljet). - By role: [Developers](https://tooljet.com/team-developers), [Engineering Leaders](https://tooljet.com/team-engineering), [IT Leaders](https://tooljet.com/it-heads), [Product Managers](https://tooljet.com/product-managers). - By industry: [Financial Services](https://tooljet.com/industry/financial-services), [Healthcare](https://tooljet.com/industry/healthcare-solutions), [Retail](https://tooljet.com/industry/retail-solutions), [SaaS](https://tooljet.com/industry/saas-solutions), [Education](https://tooljet.com/industry/education-solutions), [Government](https://tooljet.com/industry/government-solutions), [Telecom](https://tooljet.com/industry/telecom-solutions), [Logistics](https://tooljet.com/industry/logistics-solutions). ## Comparisons The Retool, Appsmith and Superblocks comparison pages show verification dates and link to primary sources.
